Supporters Demand Custody of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the pop star are demanding that a man who breached a fence and touched the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared footage reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast made its way down a promenade surrounded by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being arrested", though court documents indicated that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Record of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile features recordings of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last year.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is evidently a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Well-being
Numerous followers accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more message on Instagram.
Several attendees also criticised event staff at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while others called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Event Details
In clips shared widely, Grande seemed shocked when she was approached by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of fans had assembled in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be launched on November 21, is the sequel of a two-part interpretation of the popular Broadway and West End production Wicked, which centers on the surprising friendship between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of last year in the UK, and scored 10 award recognitions, securing several for outstanding attire and set decoration.
