Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the international hiatus, however can the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a range of guests.

For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

Murs' latest record, the new release, is out on Friday.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our team for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite tight, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

The Cherries have lost their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they do look strong again.

West Ham's sole on the road win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers continuing their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.

A family member told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are always decent at home. Brentford will attempt to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it in reality proves to be rather close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.

They have have lots of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

Their display in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have still been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

It is a tough one to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
