President Trump Calls Families of Injured Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.

He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Tragic Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.

Presidential Call

The president explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump addressed reporters. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”

Public Response

Community members came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to support public safety in Washington DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to help others.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Actions and Government Adjustments

Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event led the administration to pause asylum applications and cease providing visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with honor, per the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
