Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in eastern districts were left without electricity and faced problems to drinking water, per reports from municipal leaders.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, based on information from regional authorities.

Russian forces has increased attacks on electrical systems over the past few days, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the America, the EU and the major economies - in delivering air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles struck the country's power systems, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, according to municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the city experienced intense attacks throughout the evening. A young boy was killed and several individuals were hurt.

The attacks come after nights of bombing campaigns in the area, sections of which are occupied by invading troops.

National leaders told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the national power system, with assaults already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were preparing for additional strikes.
