Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor has been charged with committing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
